Water, water, everywhere...

For the last five months our water consumption at home has been between 4,000 and 5,000 units. Whether it's litres, gallons, cubic feet or cubic metres I'm not sure because it's written in Arabic. This month my usage is 29,000 units! The very friendly but non-English speaking department finally gets the message. They check the metres etc etc - turns out the guy who reads the meters was on long leave and no-one replaced him. They just guessed the consumption for 5 months...

charming! Here they call it estimates. We had a borehole sunk and soon we hope to be independent from the Joburg Council for our water needs.

Hullo Kreef.

Fuck and you thought going to live near the empty quarter would solve your municipal problems.

All sounds very familiar doesn't it?

I had that with the electricity dept. twice. The first time they finally deigned to rectify it and I was in credit for months. The second time, I gave up, and converted to prepaid.

Ah, you see you've hit the nail on the head. Mess you around enough and you will cancel your "subscription" with the Shitty Council and go prepaid. That way they don't have to worry about their accounts department fekkin up.

Don't check them oes out too skeef hey!
