American girl in Italy, 1951
I love street photography. This is one of my all time favourites. Ruth Orkin (1921 – 1985) was renowned for her candid photos of Europeans and New Yorkers, and for the views she documented from her Central Park West apartment window for 30 years.
Ooooh yes, this is gorgeous and real AND black-and-white, which never hurt. It tells a story and takes the viewer far away. But here's a question. Now that every Joe Soap has a camera in his mobile phone, the opportunity for street photography of sorts is almost constant. But would I want to be in Joe Soaps' mobile? At what point does art become and invasion of privacy?
In France of all places it's actually illegal to take pics of people in the street - but as you can imagine that one is almost impossible to enforce. When is it an invasion of your privacy? All the time.

You're an excellent street photographer yourself mate.

There was an article on this photo in the Sunday Times Yesterday. Not sure if it's on their website.
Thanks, I found the article...
